I’m Abbie, a qualified teacher and the founder of GOAT Learning. I have taught across mainstream primary and specialist education, alongside holding leadership roles as a Cognition & Learning Lead and Quality of Education Lead. These roles have given me experience across curriculum development, assessment and the quality of teaching and learning, while keeping children and their progress at the centre of everything I do.

Throughout my career, I have been particularly passionate about helping children recognise what they are capable of. There is something incredibly rewarding about seeing a concept finally click, watching confidence grow or giving a child the right level of challenge to take their learning further.

GOAT Learning gives me the opportunity to bring together everything I value about great teaching and create something of my own.

At the heart of GOAT Learning is small-group tuition across KS1, LKS2 and UKS2, alongside dedicated 11+ tuition for children preparing for grammar school entrance. I want to provide high-quality teaching in smaller groups where there is more opportunity to respond to each learner, build on individual starting points and give children the right balance of support and challenge.

Small-group teaching allows me to really understand how each child is progressing. I can identify gaps, revisit concepts when needed and extend learning when a child is ready for more. Children also benefit from discussing ideas, solving problems and learning alongside their peers, while still receiving plenty of individual teacher input.

My background as a Cognition & Learning Lead, together with my experience in specialist education, also means that I can provide tailored tuition for children with SEND. This sits alongside our wider tutoring offer and means GOAT Learning can support children with a broad range of learning needs and starting points.

I’m also excited to have the freedom to make learning more creative and memorable. Sessions can include practical challenges, games, outdoor learning and real-life applications of English and maths. There may even be opportunities for Pablo and Pedro, our pygmy goats, to become part of the learning!

Most of all, I’m excited to create a space where I can focus on excellent teaching, meaningful progress and building confident, capable learners. I want children to feel successful in their learning, appropriately challenged and proud of what they achieve at GOAT Learning.

Tutoring at GOAT Learning

GOAT Learning offers teacher-led tuition for children across Key Stage 1, Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2, alongside dedicated 11+ preparation and personalised 1:1 tuition.

Created by a qualified primary teacher, GOAT Learning combines high-quality teaching with genuinely small groups and a more relaxed, personal approach to tuition.

Whether your child needs support strengthening the foundations, more challenge in an area they enjoy, preparation for the Kent Test or simply benefits from learning at their own pace, sessions are shaped around what they need now and where we would like to help them get to next.

Small groups, plenty of individual attention

Our KS1, LKS2 and UKS2 group sessions are limited to just five children.

Small group learning gives children the best of both worlds. With only five children in a session, there is plenty of individual teacher attention, while children also benefit from learning alongside others.

Working together gives children opportunities to share ideas, explain their thinking, listen to different approaches and solve problems together. It can help build confidence too, particularly when children realise that others sometimes find things tricky, make mistakes or need a little help.

With such small groups, learning can still be adapted to the children within each session. There is time to notice when someone needs something explained differently, provide extra support where needed or offer more challenge when a child is ready for it.

English and maths sessions support the skills children are developing at school without simply recreating the school day. We want children to be actively involved in their learning through discussion, practical activities, games, problem solving and plenty of opportunities to practise new skills.

Preparing for the 11+

Our 11+ tuition supports children preparing for the Kent Test across English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.

We work on the knowledge and skills children need while helping them become familiar with different question types, vocabulary, problem solving approaches and test techniques.

The aim is not to create unnecessary pressure. It is to help children feel well prepared, familiar with what they may face and confident enough to give it their best.

1:1 tuition, shaped around your child

Our daytime 1:1 tuition provides the flexibility to slow things down, revisit something tricky, move ahead when a child is ready or approach learning in a completely different way.

It can work particularly well for home educated children, children accessing reduced school timetables and children with SEND, as well as those who simply benefit from a quieter, more individual approach.

There is no one size fits all programme. We take time to get to know your child, understand where they may need support and shape their sessions around them.

Qualified teaching, without the classroom feel

All tuition is planned and delivered by a qualified primary teacher with a First Class BA (Hons) degree and experience across primary education, including classroom teaching, SEND and Quality of Education leadership.

GOAT Learning has been created to offer families the reassurance of experienced, teacher-led tuition while keeping sessions personal, welcoming and flexible.

Children are supported as individuals. Activities can be adapted, learning can move at the right pace and there is time to respond to what a child needs during each session.

Most importantly, we want children to leave feeling that they have achieved something. That might mean finally understanding something they have found difficult, tackling a new challenge, growing in confidence or simply beginning to enjoy learning a little more.

Of course, we couldn't forget the goats...

GOAT Learning is a little different from a traditional tuition setting.

Alongside our dedicated indoor tuition space, we have a garden and outdoor area where children can spend supervised time around our resident goats, Pablo and Pedro.

The outdoor space gives us another way to make learning feel engaging and enjoyable. It might be used for a practical activity, a change of scenery, a movement break or simply a few minutes to reset before returning to learning.

Our goats are part of the GOAT Learning experience too. Children may have opportunities to spend supervised time with Pablo and Pedro, whether that is saying hello at the beginning or end of a session or incorporating them into an activity where it naturally fits.

They are not the focus of the tuition, but they are certainly part of what makes GOAT Learning memorable.

We want children to come through the door feeling positive about being here and leave feeling proud of what they have achieved.
